Retirement due to permanent incapacity, formerly known as Disability Retirement, is a benefit due to an INSS insured person who proves, in a medical examination, that he or she is totally and permanently incapacitated for work or for the activity he or she used to carry out.
In addition to the requirement of permanent incapacity, the insured person must also prove his or her insured status and fulfillment of the waiting period (except for benefits arising from accidents at work and serious illnesses exempt from the waiting period requirement).
